What is Educar? In our continuing commitment to giving back to our community Great Lakes Chevrolet and Great Lakes GMC Buick present the Educar. Simply put, we gave a $25,000 vehicle grand prize to our local Ashtabula County schools to raffle off to raise money. The Great Lakes family of stores provided it all: the tickets, the advertising, and the prize! The money stays with the local schools. All they had to do is sell the tickets and the proceeds benefit their various academic or athletic programs as they see fit.
Over the course of one year, students and staff of our county schools have the opportunity to sell $5 raffle tickets. The recipients of those tickets will then be entered in a drawing to win a 2012 GMC Sierra or a 2012 Chevy Cruze worth up to $25,000 courtesy of the Great Lakes Auto Group.
The owners, management, and staff of Great Lakes Chevy understand the value of education and the integrity of community outreach. Educar is just another manifestation of our commitment to the communities that support us with their patronage.

Educar Campaign Aims to Raise $100k for Ashtabula Area Schools
ASHTABULA (Star Beacon August 15, 2011) – Great Lakes Auto Group is excited to announce the launch of Educar, a unique fundraising program created exclusively for Ashtabula County schools. The campaign starts Monday, August 22 and expects to raise over $100,000 for area schools.
As a non-profit initiative, Educar is a collaborative effort comprised of Great Lakes Auto Group and Ashtabula County school systems. The fund raiser is quite simple. During the 2011-2012 academic year, students and staff will sell $5 raffle tickets. Similar to a traditional raffle, tickets will be collected for a grand drawing to be held in June 2012. Money collected will stay in control of the school throughout the campaign.
The selected winner will have the choice of a 2012 GMC Sierra, 2012 Chevy Cruze, $25,000 towards the purchase of another vehicle or $15,000 in cash.
Each district has designated a school representative to oversee the fund-raiser and will be responsible for allocating internal resources. Great Lakes Auto Network is donating the vehicle and no money will be retained by the dealership.
Beneficiaries have been pre-selected by each school to receive funds at the end of the campaign. For example, some schools have elected their sports boosters or PTA as the beneficiary.
All school districts in Ashtabula County were invited to participate in Educar, a simple decision to make once they learned 100 percent of the proceeds will go directly back to the school.
Participating districts: Buckeye Local Schools, Grand Valley Local Schools, Geneva Area Schools, Jefferson Area Schools, Pymatuning Valley Local Schools, Saints John and Paul Catholic School and Christian Faith Academy.
